Two neat ones from Wired. I may have to actually start reading that rag again.

First is math. I've run into far too many people who dogmatically claim, "I can't do math." Fair enough, if you've tried and failed. Worse is when it's a seemingly bright young girl who dismissively says, "girls aren't supposed to be good at math, anyway." This makes me nuts.

Of course, as a geeky guy, it's hard for me to make an argument that would convince a school girl to take on an anti math prejudice. However, it's possible Winnie could.

Also in Wired, Molecular Gastronomy. When I see this I shudder, thinking of flavored foams of doom and dry ice as a kitchen staple. However, the fellow who coined the term didn't mean that at all. With a name that makes it hard to read about him in English, check This out.

FoamFans do make it hard to appreciate the concepts behind the art. It's another case of the new converts destroying that which they were drawn to by enthusiasm without understanding.
