Ok, a whole lot of computer voting buzz is basically democratic sour grapes. However, I've been aware of Diebold in particular for a couple years now. What's worst, their security holes have been known for some time.
Some of these are over the top, but I was still amused: http://homepage.mac.com/rcareaga/diebold/adworks.htm
While I don't think any nefarious tactics really changed anything, I'm still irate that they happen. A friend of mine, a long time Wallmart employee, was ordered by his employer to vote Bush, or else. That's just wrong.
Curiously, most voting machines favored Bush. While it's true the majority of the country did too, the numbers are questionable.
It's useless to worry about computer voting in the past, it's done. But it will happen again and that's not good. More on e-voting and the evils of Diebold: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20031103/0858231.shtml
