This is cool, sort of. The first film to be released on USB stick will be Ghostbusters. However, the proud owner must "have the USB drive plugged in to watch the movie, as the DRM is locked in the USB drive."
Now I'm torn in a number of ways. I'd like to support movies on reusable media, but DRM laden drek is not the way to go. On the other hand, there's the challenge of breaking the lock on the offensive thing to once again prove the invalid premise of DRM. But then I'd still have to buy it, tacitly showing my acceptance of the abomination. Also, it's PNY, one of the crappiest manufacturers out there and one I've sworn against ever giving any money ever again.
*sigh* I'll leave the joy of cracking the beast to someone else. To be honest, video codecs make my brain hurt anyway.
In related news, yesterday was GNU's 25th birthday.

I love my free software, so long live silly animals! And death to DRM.
