I'd meant to mention this, forgot, then ultimately used it on a friend's blog.
Did you know that Arlington National Cemetery has standard list of
Authorized Emblems for the head stones? The graphics on the page are rather shabby, aren't they? I have a few observations:
A wiccan pentacle was recently added, in spite of
objections.
The atheist symbol makes me think of buzz cuts, taped together eyeglasses, and grainy filmstrips from science class.
I'm amused by the "not shown because of copyright" symbols. "Hello, we're to spread our universal truth. No, wait! You can't carve that without a licensing fee." Now that's a modern religion!
And, best of all,
ECK! One of the flakiest humans I've ever known in my life was into this. While I generally accept everyone's belief, this one is a pretty
classic cult. Perhaps, in time, Paul Twitchell will catch up to Joseph Smith in respectably?. Surely stranger things have happened in the history of religion.
