I'm doing some research for a blog post I'm thinking of. Odd, I know, but filling in half recalled factoids is half the fun. It's about vampires in modern myth ( coming soon, maybe ). While reading, I noticed that Ada Lovelace has to same birthday I do. ( Yes, "the Princess of Parallelograms" is related to Dracula. I'll explain later. )

I was shocked. Last time I looked at one of those Today in History type sites, my birthday had been disappointingly drab. No one exiting, really. But then, such sites rarely go back beyond Hollywood. Ada worked with Charles Babbage on his analytical engine, possibly the first computer. She's also the first, and maybe still the only, woman to have a computer programming language named after her. Certainly someone I was happy to share a birthday with.

Thus inspired, I went looking for an older birthday list. And so, a meme is born ( big pun, deal ).

List six dead people that share your birthday. Three that you're happy about and three that you wish had spared you the infamy.

The Good
1815 - Ada Lovelace, English computer programmer (d. 1852)
1851 - Melvil Dewey, American librarian (d. 1931)

The Bad
1394 - King James I of Scotland (d. 1437)
1830 - Emily Dickinson, American poet (d. 1886)

The Ugly
1948 - Abu Abbas, founder of the Palestine Liberation Front (d. 2004)
